Parks & Recreation Committee
January 13, 2010


The City of Owen Parks & Recreation Committee met on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at Owen City Hall. Chairperson Dennis Lulloff presided and served as secretary. Committee Members Present: Nelson, Renderman, Kroeplin, Tolzmann, and Lulloff. Absent was Gokey. A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order.

Approve Minutes
A motion was made by Tolzmann, seconded by Renderman to approve the 9-2-09 and 11-11-09 minutes. Motion passed on a voice vote.

Message Boards
A motion was made by Nelson, seconded by Tolzmann to pursue boards similar to those at the Clark County Healthcare Center and have Dennis Looker build them if possible. If Dennis Looker doesn’t have the time, Dennis Lulloff and Al Christophersen will build them at Al’s shop with the City paying for materials for the Boards and heat for the shop. Motion passed on a voice vote.

Mill Pond Park Design
A motion was made by Renderman, seconded by Nelson to recommend to the Council that we pursue planning and design of new Mill Pond Park buildings and layout by the Samuels Group at a cost of $2000-$2500 with the money to come from the 2005 Parks Project budget. Motion passed on a voice vote.

Skating Rink
The condition of the skating rink was discussed. Denny Lulloff will talk to Gary Smith about it and if it would be possible to put the skating rink on the Mill Pond.

Adjourn
A motion was made by Renderman, seconded by Kroeplin to adjourn. The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
