Notice to Owen and Withee Residents:
Effective May 25, 2009, the Owen Police Department will no longer be responding to skunk problems within the City of Owen and Village of Withee. The Owen Police Department is aware that skunks are an on-going problem in our communities, however, skunks are known to carry rabies and disposing of skunks creates a bigger problem for law enforcement: odor, rabies, and safe handling and removal. It is recommended that residents discontinue feeding pets outdoors for an extended period of time and do not use live traps for small wildlife animals as this attracts skunks as well. The following website has some helpful suggestions for how you can get skunks to leave your property.
